Israel eases Gaza blockade, but not travel ban

While the Israeli government has expanded the number and type of goods which can be shipped into Gaza, its defense ministry said Wednesday that travel restrictions out of Gaza will not be eased.

Afghanistan: Five troops killed in “friendly fire” incident

Five Afghan soldiers were killed on Wednesday while in pursuit of Taliban insurgents, when a NATO helicopter mistakenly fired on them.

Third “Climategate” probe ends

The third of three probes into “Climategate” — a scandal concerning leaked emails from University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit — found “a consistent pattern of failing to display the proper degree of openness,” but otherwise cleared the scientists involved of wrongdoing.

Queen Elizabeth II of England visited New York City on Tuesday, July 6th. The queen addressed the United Nations and visited “Ground Zero” — the former site of the World Trade Center.
